Ellen König

Ellen König studierte Informatik und Philosophie an der Universität Potsdam und Psychologie und Soziologie an der Fernuniversität in Hagen.
Seitdem ist sie in der Softwareentwicklung mit Schwerpunkt auf Datenanalyse und maschinellem Lernen tätig.
Zurzeit leitet sie die Abteilung für „Data Engineering“ bei WhereIsMyTransport, einem Start-up, das Anwendungen für den öffentlichen Personen-Nahverkehr in Schwellenländern entwickelt.
Ihr Interessensschwerpunkt liegt auf der Frage, wie wir technologischen Wandel konstruktiv gestalten können.

How to create the AI we actually want

My new washing machine comes with a built-in “Artificial Intelligence” to control the spin cycle. Whenever I wash my bedsheets in it, they are still dripping wet when it’s done.
AI promises us smart assistance in our daily lives. But not only is AI often not smart, in certain situations it is scary.
It doesn't have to be that way. In this talk, I want to introduce you to some empowering perspectives on AI that I learned as a tech professional. And suggest how we can figure out together what AI we want in our future, and how to create it.
